You probably wondered, why we call ourselves "Teufelsflieger".
Here you will find out...
When we just started to fly and had little experience, we made our very first flights
(inter alia) from the so-called "Teufelsberg" (translated: Devil´s Mountain) in Berlin
which is about 377 ft (114,7 m). Unfortunately, we realized that hang-gliders seemed
to be extinct and actually, we never saw another hang-glider pilot (at least not WITH a hang-glider). After a while we found out that the "Teufelsberg" was infamous and
people were talking about turmoils, dangers, in a word
ANGST!
Angst? We did not know the meaning of that word, so we had to look it up:
Angst is a German word for fear, anxiety or rage. It is used to describe an
intense feeling of oppression, anxiety or inner turmoil.
Aha! That word has Indo-German origins (8th century) and it was even esported!
From other sources we found out, that Angst was partly mixed with love or to be in love (that is why it would be a good idea to watch a horror movie on a first date to win quickly the heart of your sweetheart). We did not want to mix flying on the Teufelsberg with love, however - we did not honestly, because it was
LOVE! Love to fly, love to nature, love to the Teufelsberg.
We are the Teufelsflieger of Berlin and we want to show that hang-gliders can still fly from this mountain - like 30 years ago!
